Men's State League

Melville City FC is in preparation for the start of State league Division 2 in season 2017.

The 2017 State League Senior squad has taken on a fresh, new look with the emphasis firmly on tapping the extensive and talented junior base of the club. The first team competed very successfully in the pre-season night series, winning 3 games (see below) against notable opposition. With the average age of the team approaching 21 years, the future is looking bright.

This direction is largely due to the great work being done by our well qualified and experienced coaching staff consisting of Head Coach Gavin Brown, last years U/18's coach John Humphries and Friday Zico. Their faith in the ability and desire of the squad is already starting to pay dividends and we can have confidence that the future of the club is in good hands.

Season 2016 saw the formation of Melville City's entry into the Junior NPL (12s-16s) and already this has proved to be a successful operation with a number of young players making the step up to the State League 18s. The Academy is being overseen by MCFC's Technical Director - Peter Rickers running sessions for each age group over the course of 2017.

This development is another 'pat on the back' for Melville's youth set-up and we hope it will mean more players roll off the conveyor belt into the men's teams in the future.

The State league teams have been training since November and has played well in the Football West Night series.

In the State League Night Series Melville beat league rivals and home team Forrestfield 2-1 on the 2nd March, having overcome 1st division side Swan United 4-1 the previous week. This was the inaugural match wearing the new blue and white Melville City away strip.
